Texas SV Riders

Texas Suzuki SV Riders Forum

It has been a long while since I've been on this Forum.
Alot has changed since I last visited... some major stuff.

I am still married... I still have my 2005 SV1000S... I still have a Neon racecar... I got rid of my Dakota for a Caliber SRT-4...We added a member to the Family, Leiland David was born on July 10, 2008... my father-in-law still has his FZ-1 and K1200S.

I am finally getting new Michelin Pilot Powers installed today... I've got all the fairings off to do the radiator flush, change the oil, flush the brake Fluids, fresh plugs, and clean/ lube the chain.

I am greatful to still be able to have my two hobbies... and now I have a son that hopefully will share my same hobbies eventually.

I saw that Adam traded sides and went to Honda... and then was selling his Honda.
I think I still have his phone number in my phone.

Have all the "originals" traded in their SV's and moved on?

I still visit the site man! haha..I check it occasionally.

I AM still on the SV. Next month will be 3 1/2 years on the bike.
I bought my '03 SV1000 naked brand new in July of '05, It had 14 miles on it when I drove it for the first time out of the parking lot of Honda Suzuki North. For those 3+ years my SV has been my ONLY form of transportation rain, shine, snow, or sleet! As it sits in the parking garage waiting for tomorrow's ride it has 57,726 miles on it. haha! Yeah, I ride a little bit!
Even with as much mileage as the bike has it has only given me one problem, I had to replace the fuel pump last week. Fuel pump is supposed to put out 170ml in 10 secs or 43psi. mine was only putting out 50 ml and less than 10psi. So I'll say it's running ALOT better now than it was before hah..not getting as good of gas mileage tho......? haha, I wonder why!

Yes Adam went to Honda, but stuck with the Vtwin.. Decided he didn't like the RC as much and went to the darkside and got the inline. It's alright Adam!, I ride a Suzuki but work for Honda! haha

I'm a Service Tech at Al Lamb's Dallas Honda. I've been there for one year this month. I really enjoy the motorcycle business, right now at work I'm in the middle of a complete engine overhaul on a '07 CBR1000rr. Teardown is complete, just waiting on all the parts to come in. Dude broke a good piece off his clutch basket (3 pieces) and found their way into the pickup screen and starved it for oil. Ended up spinning the crankshaft bearing on no. 3 cylinder. Without the plain bearing there, the clearances are too small so the piston hit both the cylinder head and the crankshaft making a horrible noise!

Brian, You're going to love the pilot powers if this is the first time you've had them. Pilot Powers 2ct is the only tire I will run on my bike. I switched to Qualifiers a few weeks ago for only 3 days and wrecked coming into the parking lot a little too hot one morning so the next day I had Pilot Powers back on the bike..

Hope this site picks back up..miss talking to you guys!

That's right... you work right up the street from my work.

I am still working for an engineering firm just south of the High Five.
We are getting pay cuts and hour cuts starting in March.

I got the SV back road worthy... it's amazing what tyres will do to a bike.
Along with all the maintenance done... and only 6,435 miles.
Needless to say it still runs like a top.

It's extremely rare that I check in on this site anymore, but sometimes I take a peek to see if any of you guys are still around. I still see Brian Rose on a semi-regular basis since I am still on a Honda and he's over at Al Lamb's. I will admit that I tried to fall in love with the v-twin all over again after the gixxer was stolen but unfortunately the RC just didn't do it for me. I traded it in over at Maxim in Allen for an 04 1000rr. I'm lovin it.

Brian F. - I still think about you guys when I ride through Princeton, which is a regular occurrence since I still do a lot of riding NE of the metroplex. Congrats on the new addition to the family. Julie and I are talking about family but not quite there yet. Glad you guys are doing well.

I still have regular contact with Chris Rehder and he's still on the yellow SV650 although he rarely rides anymore. I did get him out to one track day last season. I'm also really good buddies with Jason Foster who was a late addition to the group when we were still meeting regularly. He's on a silver naked SV1000.

I still do a lot of riding (although not as much as Brian Rose), so if either of you are interested in getting out let me know.

I've got new Rubbers on my SV and all the maintenance is current... I just need to get the tags and inspection updated now. I can sneak out of the house as long as I give my wife enough notice that I am going to ride.

My brother just bought a 2003 Naked Silver 650... He bought it from a guy out in Rowlett that only used it to commute, so it needed all the maintenance updated. Plugs, Radiator System Flush, Brake System Flush, Clean and Lube Chain... he's already put a Delkevic Pipe on it and we modded the air box lid. Now I am trying to get him to swap the Gearing and a Throttle Tube.

The SV is ready to Rock!!!! Registration and Inspection are Done!!!! Now who wants to come over and help me swap Fork Oil and go out for a ride afterwards?????

20 days later....sure, I'll lend a helping hand :)

I ride, by the way, an '07 650S gone nakey. It's far from stock - I enjoy tinkering with it as much as I do riding it.

Well now I am going to hold off on doing the fork oil... I am saving up some cash for a complete front end swap.

I am ready to ride if anyone heads to the Northeast of Dallas off of 380/ University out of McKinney.

Brian - I ride out that way almost every Sunday with a group of guys I really like and trust. I'm pretty familiar with the roads in the Lucas, Melissa, Blue Ridge, Leonard, Farmersville, Merit, Wolfe City, Whiteright, Sherman, etc, etc... I'm likely to be out this weekend if it doesn't rain. I'll drop you a short note when I figure out what my plans are.

I'd love to go with you guys.... you should remember I'm not out to prove anything to anyone.

Let me know.... I still have your cell phone number in my phone if it's still a good one.

haaay can i go... my front rotors are slightly warped but i'll hang in the back of the pack.
Hay Brian R. will it ruin my new pads to run them on warped rotors...?

My SV is'nt as fast at Adams HONDA but I still enjoy the Hell out of it. I've done a few track days on it an the suspension needs help bad... the cure i think could be a gixxer 1000 front end

Hope we can make it Sunday the 28th cause I have to work Saturday...

It wouldn't ruin them, but it will cause them to wear prematurely because everytime the rotor makes a rotation it will contact the pad more than a normal conditions. Ruining your new pads is probably the least thing you need to worry about. With a warped rotor,it will push against the pistons inside your caliper causing you to loose brake lever pressure. I don't know how bad they are warped but I've seen cases where the brakes still function but only after the second time you grab a handful of the brake, also cause another dangerous situation like maybe going over the handlebars haha. If you take it easy and make sure you have plenty of time to stop then you'll be fine, maybe a little unwanted shimmy in the front end but I would recommend a new rotor asap.
